It’s easy to see why Promises, Promises heroine Fran Kubelik would fall for her boss, J.D. Sheldrake of the Consolidated Life Insurance Company: Mr. Sheldrake is played by Tony Goldwyn, still as dreamy today as when he co-starred in the hit movie Ghost 20 summers ago. In his spic-and-span dressing room at the Broadway Theatre, Goldwyn showed off five of his favorite things, including a special gift from a theatrical legend and the music that puts him in the perfect 60s mindset.

“The most important item is a beautiful piece of turquoise that was given to me by my dear friend Geoffrey Holder, the famous dancer and great man of the theater. He said that I have to keep it with me at all times when I’m doing anything creative.”
“I was instructed not to wear any makeup in this show, but the one thing I do is put lots of crap in my hair because it’s 1962. So my hairbrush and comb are critical items.”
“Another very useful item is my Promises, Promises notepad. I use it much more than I thought I would!”
“These are my reading glasses. Having turned 50 this year, I now need to wear reading glasses.”
“My Bose iPod dock is here, because I have to have music in my dressing room. Right now I’m listening to Led Zeppelin, but I’m into [the music service] Pandora and that mixes it up, which is great. I listen to Frank Sinatra before the show. That’s how I warm up.”
